Carlton, Pensylvánie 1903 – děti pracující v hlubinném dole jsou při závalu zaživa pohřbeny. Ovdovělá Karen spolu se svými dcerami se přestěhují do téhož města a brzy se dozvídají jeho tragickou historii. Ale zločiny minulosti se znovu vracejí v podobě dětí (zombies) a jejich ďábelsky krvavé pomsty – pronásledují, zabíjí a požírají své oběti. Karen a její dcery musí s pomocí souseda přežít, aby byl utišen hlad zombies po vlastní spáse.
